MONTREAL, June 14, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - McKesson Canada announced today that its Telecare Services have been accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada, the highest level of accreditation possible. The Telecare Services are part of McKesson's CareEnhance Telecare Solutions, and include the 811 Telecare service in Nova Scotia, the Problem Gambling Help Line in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and the Recovery Aftercare Program in Newfoundland. These services provide direct access to health care professionals, optimize health care delivery, and help ensure healthy outcomes for patients.
"This is an important achievement for McKesson. The service was evaluated by industry peers on standards for Leadership for Primary Care and Telehealth Services, which address many aspects of health care, from patient safety and ethics to staff training and partnering with the community. Underlying it all was a comprehensive review of service based on eight quality dimensions: population focus, accessibility, safety, worklife, client-centered services, continuity of services, effectiveness and efficiency," explained Dale Weil, McKesson Canada's Senior Vice President, Integrated Healthcare Solutions, Strategy and Business Development.
The Accreditation Report provided as part of the accreditation process highlighted areas of strength for the telecare services including collaborative working relationships with external partners, a rigorous clinical review process, comprehensive documentation, a robust quality framework, and an exemplary program to support work-at-home nursing staff.
Undertaking accreditation was a voluntary initiative for McKesson Canada, which decided to participate in Accreditation Canada's program to evaluate its performance against national standards of excellence. Both time and resources were invested to participate in this accreditation process which demonstrates its patients and clients receive the best possible care.
McKesson's Telecare Services are accredited until June 2017.
