MDA provides surface movement monitoring solution to key industries
RICHMOND, BC, Oct. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. ("MDA" or the "Company") (TSX:MDA), a global communications and information company, today announced that it has been awarded multiple contracts with undisclosed customers in the oil and gas, and mining sectors. MDA will deliver RADARSAT-2 surface movement monitoring products and services that accurately detect and report the extent of surface movement in localized areas.
RADARSAT-2 is capable of collecting images through all weather conditions, 24 hours a day. It is able to repeatedly image the same location on Earth over time, from the same orbital position, and generate data that is processed using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) techniques to measure the movement of ground features to millimetres-level accuracy.
MDA's wide-area surface movement monitoring solutions for the oil and gas, and mining sectors detect and track surface movement to support safe and efficient operations by protecting facilities, onsite personnel, and the surrounding environment. The dependable level of accuracy provided by RADARSAT-2 provides operators with accurate information to support environmental compliance and health and safety issues for customer sites around the world.
