MDA to provide additional ground station solutions for US Air Force program
RICHMOND, BC, Dec. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed a multi-million dollar contract with DigitalGlobe, Inc. to deliver a solution to allow two of the U.S. Air Force's (USAF) mobile ground systems, called Eagle Vision, to receive and process imagery from WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 satellites. On October 31, 2012, MDA announced a contract award for two USAF systems, and today's contract will now make a total of four systems to have WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 capability. MDA's solution will enhance the USAF's ability to provide near real-time in-theatre access to essential image data, on a daily basis.
Eagle Vision is a system comprised of five deployable ground stations that collect and process data transmitted from commercial satellites. In addition to supporting homeland disaster relief missions, the system provides critical imagery information directly in-theatre.
