MONTRÉAL, Aug. 3, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - At a point in life where many would consider slowing down professionally, there are others ready to take on new challenges. Me Richard Lamarée is one such professional. After serving for many years at the helm of Kaufman Laramée, Richard Laramée today joins DS Lawyers Canada, a young and dynamic firm with offices in Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
From the Montreal office, Me Laramée, as partner and Chairman of the Board, will support the firm's rapid growth, which has seen an increase of 35% per year since its inception. Three experienced practitioners will also join the Montreal team as partners: Me Kim Toffoli, who specializes in banking and finance law, will lead the practice in this area; Me Pierre Verville, an expert in mergers and acquisitions will be a cornerstone in this transactional practice, and Me Josée Pilon, will spearhead employment and labour law.
"I am delighted to associate myself with a new generation of lawyers in a dynamic and prosperous firm that is clearly committed to global markets," says Me Laramée. "The thought of using my professional experience to support this bold and rapidly evolving firm is particularly exciting."
"An authority in business law of Me Laramée's caliber is an unrivaled asset to our team," says Jean-François Welch, partner and member of the management team responsible for the creation of DS Lawyers Canada. "His talent for business development, an important part of his mandate, will help accelerate the firm's growth in Quebec, Canada, and around the world. We share the same values and desire to support our clients in their growth, not only as legal counsel, but as true business partners."
Focused on small and medium-sized businesses, DS Lawyers Canada is the North American division of the DS international network, founded in Paris in 1972. The network currently operates 25 offices in 15 countries and on four continents: Europe, Africa, Asia and America.
"Since joining DS in 2013, the Canadian firm has brilliantly managed to distinguish itself within our group," adds Daniel Chausse, President of DS Lawyers in Paris. "It is a new era for DS Lawyers, and I am convinced that Me Laramée, whose name will now be associated with our firm, will contribute significantly to the growth of DS Lawyers Canada."
Given this significant addition, the firm will be known as DS Laramée in the province of Quebec.
