Meaghan's Quilt tells story of growing up as a multiple amputee

TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Super Champ Meaghan Sheppard, who was born a quadruple amputee, has a special message for those attending The War Amps 2012 Multiple Amputation Seminar. She will convey this message in the closing session of the seminar today called "Meaghan's Quilt"

Meaghan, 15, of Waterloo, and her mother, created the quilt out of the t-shirts she received at each seminar as she has grown up. Each square has a story, which Meaghan will tell to the younger "Super Champs" and their parents, showing them how each contributed to the full and active life she lives today. She will end the session by presenting the quilt to The War Amps.

This is the closing session of the seminar, which is held regularly by The War Amps to address the unique concerns of children with multiple amputations.

Utilizing the Winner's Circle philosophy, The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program changes the lives of child amputees through artificial limbs, counselling, Seminars and programs like Matching Mothers.    The War Amps is funded solely through public support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service and receives no government grants.
