Medavie Blue Cross announces Khemani as new President; Julien to lead Medavie Inc.

TORONTO, Sept. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - Medavie Blue Cross is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashim Khemani as President.

Ashim joins Medavie Blue Cross with 25 years of professional experience in insurance and financial services, professional services and retail. He has played an integral role in building and leading domestic and global teams to execute growth mandates in both publicly traded and private-sector firms. Ashim's work in policy and academic settings has had a dominant focus on health care—both from a quality and sustainability perspective.

Ashim is well positioned to lead Medavie Blue Cross at a pivotal time in the company's history, as the organization works to leverage the Atlantic Canadian expertise that has been the key driving force behind its success while continuing to grow in Ontario and Quebec. Distinctive client service combined with effective relationships with clients, key distribution partners and advisors will underpin the company's growth strategy.

Earlier this year, current Medavie Blue Cross President Pierre-Yves Julien was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer, Medavie Inc. In this new role, Pierre-Yves will lead the executive team responsible for the organization, which includes Medavie Blue Cross, Medavie EMS and the Medavie Health Foundation.

Ashim will be based in Toronto, which rounds out the existing Medavie Inc. leadership team with Pierre-Yves in Moncton and George McLellan, President of Medavie EMS, based in Halifax.
