TORONTO, May 31, 2012 /CNW/ - MEDEC, Canada's Medical Technology Companies, today welcomed Peter Robertson as Chair of the MEDEC Board of Directors. Peter Robertson is Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare Canada.

Peter Robertson follows the successful two-and-a-half year tenure of James Wilson, President of Brancorth Medical. At GE Healthcare, Peter is responsible for growing GE Healthcare's footprint across Canada by offering transformational medical technologies and services that are shaping a new age of patient care. Peter joined GE Healthcare in 1985 as the National Sales Manager and advanced through a series of senior roles in sales, marketing and operations. He became General Manager, Diagnostic Imaging in September 2006, and assumed his current position in May 2008.
Peter's passion for improving the effectiveness and delivery of Canada's healthcare system extends to his community involvement. Peter serves as the vice chair of the board of directors for the Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization at McMaster University and as a board member with the Centre for Imaging Technology Commercialization (CImTeC). Peter also provides his leadership on GE Canada's Board of Directors and as a member of the management board for MaRS' Excellence in Clinical Innovation and Technology Evaluation ("EXCITE") program. Finally, Peter serves as a Corporate Advisory Council member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
