Mederi Announces Stretta Presentation, Hands-On Training and New Data at DDW 2017
NORWALK, Conn., May 2, 2017 /CNW/ -- Mederi Therapeutics has announced educational activities on Stretta Therapy for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) that will take place at Digestive Disease Week 2017 (DDW 2017) in Chicago from May 6-9.
PRESENTATION: UNMET NEEDS IN GERD TREATMENT
A special presentation entitled, "Unmet Needs in GERD Treatment – Why you should consider the Stretta procedure in your clinical practice," will take place on Monday, May 8 from 1:30-2:30 pm in the ASGE Learning Center. Presenters include respected GERD experts: Ronnie Fass, MD, Professor of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, Director, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Head, Esophageal and Swallowing Center at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio; and Jan Tack, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine, Head, Dept. of Clinical and Experimental Medicine and Head of Clinic, Dept. of Gastroenterology, Translational Research Center for Gastrointestinal Disorders (TARGID) at University Hospital KU, Leuven, Belgium.
Dr. Fass will present data from his recently published Stretta Meta-Analysis. The results of this landmark study showed that Stretta significantly reduces GERD symptoms while impacting physiological parameters, including reducing acid exposure and healing erosive esophagitis. The strengths of this study include, up to 10 years of follow-up, a large number of subjects (2468), and the inclusion of 28 studies. Professor Tack has authored multiple studies analyzing Stretta outcomes and mechanism of action.
STRETTA PHYSICIAN TRAINING
Physicians are invited to participate in hands-on training with Stretta on Sunday, May 7 and Monday, May 8 in the ASGE Learning Center. Physicians seeking a non-surgical GERD treatment will gain useful experience with the unique non-ablative radiofrequency delivery system behind Stretta.
NEW STRETTA DATA
Also at DDW 2017, new Stretta data from studies conducted by Dr. Mark Noar, Director of The Heartburn and Reflux Center in Towson, Md., will be presented in poster sessions. These studies examine the benefits of Stretta at 10-year follow-up in GERD patients who are difficult to treat due to the serious conditions of, Barretts esophagus, obesity, and patients with extra-esophageal symptoms of GERD, such as asthma, chronic cough and sleep apnea.
