Soaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conference brings students, employers together
OHSWEKEN, ON, March 14, 2017 /CNW/ - Indspire is hosting its Soaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conference at the Westin Ottawa Hotel on March 23rd, 2017.
Nearly 1,000 First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students and their chaperones from across Canada will gather in Ottawa and explore education and career opportunities through a dynamic and engaging conference. By participating in workshops and hearing from top employers, Indigenous high school students will be presented with a multitude of options for post-secondary education and employment, and will learn about Indspire's scholarships and bursaries. The conference is designed to equip Indigenous youth with the tools and knowledge to dream big and aim high, to close the gap in Indigenous education.
Hosted by award-winning pop star, Inez Point, this year's Soaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conference will feature live entertainment, career workshops, and prizes. Since 1996, nearly over 43,000 Indigenous youth have attended Soaring conferences.
At the conference, Indspire will launch its Youth Laureates Cross Canada Tour, a Canada 150 Signature Initiative, hosted by the multi-talented reality star, Suzette Amaya. Indspire will bring past Indspire Awards recipients (laureates) in the Youth categories to seven cities across Canada, to be featured in highly interactive panel discussions. The launch will happen over lunch on March 23rd and begin at 12:20pm.
