CALGARY
CALGARY, Nov. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Marino Alvarado, Executive Director of Venezuela's PROVEA (Programa Venezolano de Educacion-Accion en Derechos Humanos), arrives in Calgary tomorrow to speak with academics, activists, students, media, and the general public about human rights and democracy in Venezuela. PROVEA is the recipient of Rights & Democracy's 2010 John Humphrey Award. Often a target of harsh criticism and intimidation for speaking out about human right abuses in Venezuela, PROVEA works peacefully to promote human rights as an integral component of a democratic society.
