MEDIA ADVISORY - 2015 CivicAction Summit - Better City Bootcamp
On the Heels of Federal and Provincial Budgets, Political Leaders Join Civic Leaders to Whip our Region into Shape on April 28th
New TD Economics report informs five CivicAction Bootcamp Themes
TORONTO, April 20, 2015 /CNW/ - Join over 600 civic leaders from across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) at the 2015 CivicAction Summit – Better City Bootcamp on April 28th to "workout" a plan to improve our prosperity and get our region into shape. TD today issued an economics report to set the stage and outline the key challenges and opportunities for action. Find the report here.
The Summit comes just days after the federal and provincial budgets, and will help drive action on collective priorities for the region. The Honourable Lisa Raitt, PC, MP, Minister of Transport, The Honourable Kathleen Wynne, MPP, Premier of Ontario, and His Worship John Tory, Mayor, City of Toronto, will be at the Summit to share their vision for the GTHA.
Every four years, the CivicAction Summit brings together hundreds of senior and rising leaders to drive new regional priorities and partnerships. Better City Bootcamp will focus on five foundational issues and opportunities at the core of our people and region's health and resilience:
- Housing affordability: matching senior health care to housing options;
- Mental health support in the workplace;
- Childhood health: the importance of the "First 1000 Days";
- Infrastructure: preparing for greater density and weather intensity; and
- Public space: for the health of our people and communities.
If you are unable to attend in person, Better City Bootcamp will have a large digital footprint with two regional satellite locations in Rexdale and Scarborough, an interactive livestream of the day, and engagement through social media at #bettercitybootcamp and @civicactiongta.
