Media Advisory - 22nd Annual Krista Sepp Memorial Awards
Celebration Luncheon to be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Richmond Hill Country Club
MARKHAM, ON, April 30, 2013 /CNW/ - At noon on Thursday, May 2, 2013, Kinark Child and Family Services and non-profit organizations across Ontario dedicated to helping children and youth, will present the 22nd annual Krista Sepp Memorial Awards, including the Horizon Award and Mentoring Award at the Richmond Hill Country Club.
Jelisa Clarke of Vanier Children's Services is the recipient of the 2013 Horizon Award, which recognizes the work of direct service staff with no more than five years of experience working in the Child and Youth Worker/Child and Youth Counsellor field. The Mentoring Award recipient is Ron Bartley of Hincks-Dellcrest Centre. The award honours the ongoing contributions of direct service staff with more than five years of experience in the Child and Youth Worker/Child and Youth Counsellor field.
The Krista Sepp Memorial Award was established by Kinark in 1991 to honour the memory of Krista Sepp, who lost her life on February 3, 1989, while performing her duties as a child and youth counsellor.

Krista Sepp Memorial Awards were established to honour the qualities Krista brought to the field, to recognize the important contributions of child and youth counsellors/workers (CYCs/CYWs) across Ontario and to raise awareness of children's mental health issues. Both Jelisa Clarke and Ron Bartley demonstrate exemplary contribution to the field of practice and exemplify the kind of professionalism that Krista would have become.
