The 5th edition of the international conference Preventing Overdiagnosis will be hosted by the QMA
MONTREAL, Aug. 15, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Québec Medical Association (QMA), in collaboration with its partners, the Canadian Medical Association, Université Laval and Choosing Wisely Canada, will host 350 delegates from 21 countries, who are also concerned about the pernicious effects of overdiagnosis and overtreatment, in Quebec City, from August 17 to 19. They are meeting as part of the 5th edition of Preventing Overdiagnosis, an international conference on overdiagnosis.
Quebec's Minister of Health and Social Services, Gaétan Barrette, will deliver the conference's opening remarks on Thursday, August 17, at 8:30 am, at the Quebec City Convention Centre.
Presentations on many types of overdiagnosis
There will be more than 120 presentations on the many forms of overdiagnosis and its corollaries, overtreatment and overmedicalization : screening mammograms, prenatal ultrasounds, end-of-life treatment, and polypharmacy, among others.
