OTTAWA, Aug. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - His Excellency, the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will participate in a commemorative ceremony, held in Dieppe, France, to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid.
The Governor General and the Minister will be joined by a Canadian delegation that includes Veterans of the Dieppe Raid and representatives from the Department of National Defence and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. A 100-member Canadian Forces contingent and several Canadian youth will also attend. The ceremony will include remarks by dignitaries and wreath layings.
