Media Advisory - A month before the National Housing Strategy's presentation - Demonstration for the Right to Housing on Parliament Hill, in Ottawa Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 10, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - A few weeks before the Canadian Housing Strategy is presented, a demonstration for the right to housing will be held on Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, on Thursday, October 12th. A few hundred people coming from several regions of Quebec, as well as from Ontario are expected to attend. The event is organized by the Front d'action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) and supported by the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP).
Under the theme "The Canadian Housing Strategy should not be a smoke screen!" these groups will express the urgency for Ottawa to intervene in order to end the housing crisis currently prevailing in Canada. Giant portraits of poorly housed people will be installed in front of the Ministry of finance and the office of the Prime Minister.

1:15pm: Press briefing with Véronique Laflamme, FRAPRU's spokesperson and Yogi Acharya, OCAP's spokesperson, in front of the Department of Finance Canada (90 Elgin Street)
1:30pm: The demonstration begins, from the Department of Finance Canada to the office of the Prime Minister
2:15pm: Arrival at the office of the Prime Minister (80 Wellington Street), speeches and high visibility action.
