MEDIA ADVISORY - A Teddy Bear to Bring Families of Soldiers Who Will Soon
Deploy to Afghanistan Closer Together
VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Sept. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to the launch of Project Tunerk this Wednesday, September 15, for families of troops that will soon deploy to Afghanistan. The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Valcartier Military Family Resource Center (building 93), located near the Valcartier Garrison.
Initiated by the Deployment Support Group, Project Tunerk is an initiative that aims at bringing families that live the absence of military deployments closer together. Tunerk, which means "Gift" in Inuit tung, is the name given to the teddy bear that can serve as a gift not only for soldiers, but also for children. Available at the cost of 12 $, families and soldiers can buy it to write message on the back and send it to a loved one.
This teddy bear, which symbolises attachment, comfort and family, is an original way to correspond with our soldiers deployed overseas. It is a unique way for families to express their support.
Note: Media representatives must confirm their presence by calling Captain Evelyne Lemire, Public Affairs Officer, at 5 Area Support Group at 418-844-5000 ext 5880. Interviews with managers of the project will be possible on-site.
