Media advisory - Airspace Restrictions Come Into Effect for G8 Summit
BARRIE, ON, June 22 /CNW/ - Airspace restrictions issued by Transport Canada for the G8 Summit come into effect on June 24th at 4:00 am (EST) and remain in place until June 26th at 4:00 pm (EST).
The RCMP would like to remind pilot operators who plan on accessing the airspace within 30NM around Deerhurst to please review the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM - Toronto FIR) found on the NAV CANADA website at: www.navcanada.ca. The NOTAM along with previously published Aeronautical Information Publications (AIPs) can be located by clicking the G8-G20 Airspace Restrictions icon on the main page of the NAV CANADA website.
Additionally, all aircraft operating within the airspace must have mode C transponder capability. Aircraft without this capability will not be permitted to operate during the restrictions. If aircraft are unable to meet the baseline requirements for operations within the G8 airspace, the RCMP are asking the operators to move the aircraft outside of the 30NM ring surrounding Deerhurst prior to the activation of the restricted airspace or park the aircraft for the duration of the restrictions.
All violations of the airspace will be treated seriously, which may include any combination of the following; interception, arrest under the criminal code, or administrative sanctions by Transport Canada Enforcement.
