Media Advisory - ALUS Canada and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation to make special announcement on Nov 4 at The Royal
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2016 /CNW/ - On Friday, November 4, ALUS Canada and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation and will make a special announcement on the opening day of The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.
Joined by The Royal's Board Chairman, Andrew McKee, and prominent leaders from Canada's philanthropic and business communities, Tamara Rebanks, Director of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation, and Bryan Gilvesy, CEO of ALUS Canada, will jointly launch a new conservation initiative to provide strengthened support and increased recognition for farmers across the country, which will help drive positive change for all Canadians.
Following the announcement, members of the Weston family will assist ALUS Canada in the presentation of two inaugural awards, honoring both a researcher and a farmer, each with a cash prize of $10,000. The Weston Family Ecosystem Innovation Award will recognize an outstanding Canadian researcher, while the ALUS Canada Producer Innovation Award will be awarded to an innovative ALUS farmer.
ALUS Canada is a national program that funds farmers and ranchers producing clean air, clean water, pollinator habitat and other ecosystem services. As a recent Clean50 and Alberta Emerald award winner – and ranked among the exclusive Clean16 – ALUS Canada is a leader in sustainability and is dedicated to conserving Canada's environment through alternative land use service programs, one acre at a time.
