Media Advisory - AMI-tv hires new full-time reporter
TORONTO, Jan. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today the appointment of Dave Brown as full-time reporter for AMI-tv based out of Ottawa.
Brown, who is legally blind, has been working in the broadcast industry since 2009. Most recently he worked for CBC Ottawa Morning Radio as a traffic reporter. Concurrently, he had been working part-time as a reporter for AMI-tv since 2011 prior to accepting the full-time position. Brown was drawn to AMI for a number of reasons. "I was born legally blind and have been dealing with issues associated with low vision my entire life," he explains. "I don't consider my low vision to be something that stops me from living my life, but am acutely aware of how it can limit opportunities. This is a unique perspective that I can bring to the production team. I hope that my openness about the issues surrounding poor sight can serve as an inspiration not only to those living with low vision, but also those struggling with vision loss."
"Dave Brown is a talented reporter and he exemplifies what AMI is all about and what we, as a broadcaster, are trying to achieve," explains John Melville, Vice-President of Programming and Production for AMI-tv and AMI-audio. "Two of AMI's corporate core values are inclusion and empowerment and we are committed to promoting a diverse workplace and creating opportunities for deserving individuals, like Dave, who are living with a disability."
Dave assumes his new full-time position with the AMI-tv Ottawa bureau effective immediately.
