MEDIA ADVISORY - AMI unites blind and sighted chefs to host new food show
TORONTO, Oct. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) revealed today details surrounding a new, innovative food show that is heading into production and will showcase two renowned chefs, one of whom is blind.
Four Senses is a unique food show produced by AMI in conjunction with Varner Productions Limited that will feature two prominent stars from the reality cooking show world. MasterChef USA winner Christine Ha and winner of Top Chef Canada 2012, Carl Heindrich team up to host this 13-episode cooking show with an accessibility twist. Each 30-minute show will feature a cooking segment as well as interviews with celebrity guests, discussions related to eye disease, and accessibility tips and tools for independence in the kitchen.
"This is an exciting venture for AMI and we are thrilled to collaborate with two veteran Canadian companies, Varner Productions Limited and Descriptive Video (DV) Works," explains AMI-tv Director of Programming, Brian Perdue. "Our mandate at AMI is to ensure that our programming is accessible to our core audience. All of our programming airs with described video and closed captioning, however, what is particularly interesting about Four Senses is that we will be embedding all of the description right into the show as we shoot, eliminating the need to add description in post-production. This truly is an innovative approach to accessibility that AMI has been honing over the last number of years with some of our other original programming."
A number of high profile chefs and guests have been lined up for each episode of Four Senses, which begins production in Toronto on Monday, October 21st.
Four Senses producer Anne-Marie Varner was thrilled with the positive response from the food community. "The support and enthusiasm was overwhelming. Without giving away too much, we are thrilled with the lineup of celebrity chefs and guests we have confirmed including Anna Olson and Christine Cushing, to name just a few. Four Senses will offer something for people with various degrees of cooking interest and expertise."
Four Senses will air on AMI in January, 2014. Check your local provider or visit AMI.ca for the AMI channels in your area.
