Media advisory - Announcement of a $3 M partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society and the Cole Foundation to create a better convergence among Montreal research centres specializing in pediatric cancer

• Even if pediatric cancers represent less than 1% of all cancers diagnosed in Canada, they are very important from a public health perspective.
• Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children in the country.
• Leukemia and lymphoma alone will account for more than 40% of childhood cancer cases diagnosed in 2015.

WHAT:	Announcement of pediatric cancer research fund that will promote the emergence of new ideas in research on leukemia and lymphoma in children and young adults. The initiative will also encourage the creation of new teams of researchers and clinicians from different research institutions in Montreal (and possibly from outside Montreal).
