Media Advisory - ANNOUNCEMENT of Tour of Ontario Communities by Premier McGuinty* to listen to people about impact of proposed freeze of social assistance rates
TORONTO, April 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Thursday April 19th will be the launch of a tour by a life-size mannequin* of Premier McGuinty organized by the Put Food in the Budget Campaign.
Premier McGuinty will listen to people tell him the impact of the proposed freeze of social assistance rates. The tour will begin April 19th and conclude June 22, 2012.
The Tell the Premier tour will begin with a walk from the Stop Community Food Centre (1884 Davenport Road Toronto) ON at 9:00 am on Thursday, April 19th to Queen's Park. Sharon Norman, who has $9 per month left after paying rent from her Ontario Works assistance, cannot afford TTC and walks to many places around Toronto. She will walk with the Premier McGuinty mannequin, asking people along the way their opinion of the Premier's decision to freeze social assistance rates.
The walk will conclude with a press conference at Queen's Park.
