VANCOUVER, June 15 /CNW/ -
------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event: Announcement, Video Launch and Art Exhibition supporting: Enterprising Women Making Art, a program of Atira Women's Resource Society Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Time: 5:00 - 7:00 PM Location: District 319 319 Main Street Vancouver -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Members of the media are invited to a funding announcement, reception, video launch and art exhibition in support of Enterprising Women Making Art (EWMA).
An initiative of Atira Women's Resource Society, EWMA is a self-employment program for women in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside who have been affected by violence and face barriers to traditional employment. It brings together artists and artisans who pool their resources to produce and market their art, jewellery, ceramics, textiles and other products with the goal of developing self-sufficiency.
The professionally-produced 8-minute video will serve as a promotional and fundraising tool for EWMA. The Co-operators, which produced the video and has donated funds through The Co-operators Foundation, will also make a new funding announcement at the event.
Please join us on Wednesday to celebrate and support these enterprising women, and help raise awareness about the EWMA program.
