Media Advisory - Are holes in medicare coverage putting Canadians at risk?
CALGARY, Oct. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - Canada's medicare system is believed to be universal, comprehensive and equitable. In reality, that is not the case. What gets covered and what does not comes down to whether a treatment or procedure is deemed "medically necessary" and it is up to each province to make that distinction. This raises numerous problems, one of which is that Canadians are at risk of not being covered for catastrophic events related to their health.
Join Professor Herb Emery at an upcoming media conference where he will release a report that outlines the extent of Canadian medicare coverage, what needs to be fixed and how.
