Media Advisory - Athletes take up the challenge for Centraide of Greater Montreal

They will race up the 1,000 steps of Place Ville-Marie

MONTREAL, Nov. 14, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - On November 16, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., will be held the 19^th annual RBC Challenge for Centraide. This frenetic race to the top of one of Montreal's tallest buildings is dedicated to raising funds for Centraide of Greater Montreal.

Professional athletes will compete with 500 corporate employees in an attempt to beat the standing record by racing up the 1,000 steps to the top of Place Ville-Marie in less than 2 minutes 38 seconds.

PLACE:		1 Place Ville Marie, Montreal (Main floor, south side, facing René-Lévesque Boulevard)
WHO:		Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank Isabelle Marcoux, Co-Chair of Centraide Campaign 2016 and Chair of the Board of Transcontinental Inc. The professional athletes: Lex Albrecht (cycling), Gabriel Beauchesne-Sévigny (canoeing-kayaking), Caroline Calvé (snow surfing), Marc-Antoine Gagnon (acrobatic skiing), Mikaël Kingsbury (acrobatic skiing), Caroline Ouellette (ice hockey), Marie-Philip Poulin (ice hockey),  Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau (acrobatic skiing) and Karine Thomas (synchronized swimming).

All the proceeds, raised through sponsorships and donations, will be donated to Centraide of Greater Montreal's 2016 campaign. This great fund drive will continue to run until the end of December to support the work of some 350 community agencies that help one in seven people in the greater metropolitan area.
