Media Advisory - BC Unifor members to meet at inaugural regional convention on February 7
VANCOUVER, Feb. 5, 2014 /CNW/ - Unifor activists from across British Columbia will gather on February 7-9 in downtown Vancouver to meet as a Regional Council for the first time since the formation of the union. The meeting will be held at Westin Bayshore at 1601 Bayshore Drive.
"We're going to lay the foundation this weekend to grow even stronger in BC," said Unifor's Western Region Director Scott Doherty. "It is a very exciting time to be a member of Unifor." Unifor represents more than 27,000 workers across the province.
Nearly 175 elected delegates, guests, and staff will meet to strategize about national and local campaigns and elect the 2014-2015 BC Executive Board and populate committees. Delegates will hear from speakers on a range of issues important to British Columbians, from pipelines to the controversial transit referendum.
