Media Advisory - BCGEU appeals to Duncan council to support seniors' care:
resolution going before council tonight
VANCOUVER, April 19 /CNW/ - The B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union is asking Duncan City Council to show its support for seniors in the Cowichan Valley by publicly voicing opposition to the contracting out and deterioration of seniors' care.
BCGEU representatives are scheduled to appear before council at 7:30 pm, Monday, April 19, at Duncan City Hall (200 Craig St.). Doors open to the public at 7:10 pm.
The BCGEU delegation is hopeful council will pass a resolution recognizing the importance of ensuring quality care for seniors, as well as the harmful impact the contracting out of long-term care facilities like Cerwydden Care Centre in Duncan has on maintaining continuity of care.
