On the weekends of July 13-14 and 20-21, Black Creek Pioneer Village is pulling out all the stops for the Mid-Century Carnival: Greatest Show on Earth! Enjoy days full of lively entertainment, fantastic storytelling, festival food and much more at Toronto's largest outdoor living history museum. Thrill as the Mental Floss Side Show and Zoltan the Adequate perform feats of unbelievable daring-do including fire eating and sword swallowing! Take part in an interactive fairy tale or discover the amazing World of Wonders Dime Museum of Curiosities. Get a glimpse of the past with the Family Friendly Peep Shows and learn to be silly in the School of Clowning. Don't miss the craft vendors and fun festive foods!
The event is based on P.T. Barnum's Great Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan and Hippodrome show (later known as The Greatest Show on Earth). In the beginning, Barnum featured the rare and exotic alongside the best in entertainment which drew thousands of visitors who came for fun, adventure and a peek at the strange and mystical.
