Media Advisory - Calgary Hosts The World's Emerging Resource Economies
International Symposium an Opportunity to Showcase Canada's Leadership in Extractive Resource Policy
CALGARY, June 5, 2014 /CNW/ - Despite frequent criticism from special-interest organizations, the fact is that Canada is a world leader when it comes to the sustainable and responsible extraction of natural resources. While some Canadians occasionally have trouble recognizing that fact, other countries are following our lead and believe they can learn from the Canadian model of responsible resource management.
Media are invited to join a truly international symposium dedicated to exploring the opportunities for successful resource extraction in countries with growing resource sectors. This is the 2nd annual resource governance symposium hosted by The School of Public Policy. Special guest speaker will be the Hon. Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations. Attendees are coming to share their experience in the management of resource economies, and learn from Canada's success. Issues will include environment, royalties and taxes, and regulation and indigenous issues.
Delegations will represent Afghanistan, Lebanon, Mozambique, Nigeria, Peru, Poland and South Africa.
