Media Advisory - Canada to deliver an awe-inspiring evening of remembrance at the National War Memorial (April 8, 2017) Français
OTTAWA, April 6, 2017 /CNW/ - Sherry Romanado, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, a Government of Canada delegation and the Canadian public will attend the Vimy 100 evening events at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
Veterans Affairs Canada has organized a series of events this weekend in the nation's capital to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge and to honour those who served in the First World War.
The evening program on April 8 will include a candlelight tribute and an overnight vigil led by the Royal Canadian Army Cadets. The Cadets will remain on guard until the following morning at sunrise, in honour of those who waited in the tunnels and trenches on the night before the historic battle at Vimy Ridge. The evening event will also feature performances by Mr. Theland Kicknosway; Mr. Oliver Pigott and Mr. Christopher MacFarlane (music by Mr. Michael J. Moore); Ottawa Regional Youth Choir; and an illumination depicting Vimy imagery designed by Mr. Martin Conboy, MCLD.
