TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - On Saturday, October 19th Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation (TGWHF) will celebrate the 3rd annual Diwali - A Night to Shine 2013, presented by Sun Life Financial in support of UHN at The Carlu.
Diwali, the South Asian "Festival of Lights" symbolizes good health, hope, luck and prosperity and is one of the most important celebrations on the Indian calendar. Diwali signifies the triumph of good over evil, righteousness over treachery and of light over darkness.
Canadian actor Huse Madhavji (Saving Hope, Call Me Fitz), along with a cast of exceptional talent, will take guests on an enchanted journey of India's past, present and future via captivating music, dance, fashions and, of course, sumptuous food.
Funds raised this year will support Medical Education and Research in Diabetes at UHN. UHN has led the fight to cure diabetes since Banting and Best first discovered insulin and tested its efficacy at Toronto General Hospital almost a century ago. Funds will also support the Centre for Excellence in Education and Practice (CEEP), an innovator and international leader in education for health care professionals.
