MEDIA ADVISORY - Canada's CAs focus on financial reporting at Toronto
conferences
TORONTO, Nov. 22 /CNW/ - Financial reporting takes centre stage this week at two conferences being hosted by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
1) | The "Financial Reporting and Accounting Conference" (November 25-26) is one of the most respected and attended conferences of its kind in Canada. |
The gathering provides the latest authoritative and practical information on the rapidly changing world of financial reporting.
The opening keynote address is being given by Dr. Avery Shenfeld, Managing Director and Chief Economist, CIBC World Markets. In addition, the Corporate Reporting Awards luncheon, presented annually by Canada's CAs is an integral part of this year's conference. The awards have recognized excellence in financial and corporate reporting in Canada for almost 60 years. More information about the conference is available online (www.cpd.cica.ca/FRAC). Additional information about the Corporate Reporting Awards can be found online as well (www.cica.ca/cra).
Note: Dr. Avery Shenfeld speaks at 8:30am on November 25. The awards luncheon runs from 12noon to 2pm on November 25. Formal remarks and award presentations begin around 12:45pm.
2) | The second conference focuses on Canada's transition to International Financial Reporting Standards and how it will impact the users of financial statements. The investment community and other users of financial statements will need to be able to assess whether changes in reported results are due to the move to international standards or a real change in business performance. |
The "IFRS Conference for Financial Statement Users" is a one day gathering on November 25. Additional information, including a full list of speakers and panelists, can be found on the conference website (www.cpd.cica.ca/IFRS_FSU). |
Both conferences are taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (South Building).
