Media Advisory - Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister, Chris Alexander, celebrates 50th anniversary of Canada's flag with Toronto's newest citizens

TORONTO, Feb. 12, 2015 /CNW/ - Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister, Chris Alexander, and the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will welcome 100 new citizens at a special citizenship ceremony at Ryerson's Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly Maple Leaf Gardens).

After the ceremony, the new citizens will be invited to take part in a special event marking the 50^th anniversary of the official adoption of Canada's national flag. Minister Alexander, Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell, and the new Canadians will be among 2,015 people who will form a living re-creation of the Canadian flag.
