Standards (IFRS) focus of Toronto conference
TORONTO, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - Beginning in January 2011, Canada will become the latest country to adopt IFRS - part of a G20-supported worldwide movement to adopt a single set of high quality financial reporting standards.
The IFRS - North America 2010 Conference is a joint presentation by the IFRS Foundation and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). It is a significant international event being held in Toronto, Canada, bringing Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), and other members of the IASB to North America.
The conference is perfectly timed with Canada on the verge of joining more than 100 other countries in a worldwide migration to IFRS.
Paul Tellier, IFRS Foundation Trustee and former President and CEO with Bombardier and Canadian National Railway, is a featured speaker. Conference participants also will hear from senior representatives from the Canadian Accounting Standards Board (AcSB), the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission and the Ontario Securities Commission.
