TORONTO, Aug. 6 /CNW/ - The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is now accepting applications for press accreditation from Canadian print and Internet media for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Games of the XXX Olympiad open July 27, 2012.
Canadian media are invited to fill out the at http://media.olympic.ca/pdf/ACCREDITATION-Press-Registration-Inscription-de-presse.xls and email it to [email protected].
All applications must be received by October 15, 2010. Please note that this is the only process for Canadian print and Internet media to apply for accreditation for the 2012 Olympic Games. Non-rights holding broadcast organizations (ENR) must apply directly to the International Olympic Committee (http://www.olympic.org) for accreditation beginning March 15, 2011 and ending May 31, 2011.
The categories of accreditation for the 2012 Olympic Games will be as follows: "E" Journalist, "EP" Photographer, "ET" Technician and "EC" Main Press Center Support Staff. The COC has received a limited number of accreditations from the IOC, thus strict criteria will be applied to the allocation process. The selection criteria will include the following as priorities: national scope in coverage (agencies), readership and circulation (regional coverage or large dailies), previous history in attending and covering Olympic Games, geographical representation and linguistic equity.
The COC expects to complete the allocation of print media accreditations in December 2010, and will notify all applicants upon completion.
Detailed press accreditation information can be found by accessing the International Olympic Committee's website at: http://www.olympic.org/en/content/Media/.
