Canadian Alliance of Student Associations Coming to Ottawa to Meet with Politicians

OTTAWA, Nov. 16, 2012 /CNW/ -

Who:		60 students from the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations' (CASA) 25 member schools.  These students will be arriving in Ottawa on November 20^th from across the country.
		CASA's Executive will be available for interviews during their three days in Ottawa.  They include:
		Pat Joyce, Chair - Board of Directors and President of the Mount Allison Students' Administrative Council Amanda Nielsen, Secretary  for CASA and President of the Athabasca University Graduate Student Association Matthew Armstrong, CASA's Director at Large and Vice President (External) of the SAIT Students' Association
What:		CASA will be in Ottawa for its national conference and Ottawa Hill Day where members will meet with Ministers, Senators and Members of Parliament to discuss the issues that are currently most important to post-secondary students across the country.
Why:		The Federal government has an essential role to play in learning, training and research.  CASA is committed to meeting with government officials from across the country from all parties to discuss issues of concern for students, including:
		Removing earnings penalties for students The need for Open Access to publicly-funded research Increasing funding for the Canada Student Grants Program to help those with the most need
When:		Tuesday, November 20^th-Thursday, November 22^nd
