Media Advisory - Canadian Wind Energy Association to unveil strategic wind
vision for Quebec at 26th Annual Conference and Exhibition
MONTREAL, Oct. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) will unveil its long-term strategic vision for wind energy development in Quebec on Nov. 1st at the opening of its 26th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Montreal. The report titled 2025 - The Strength of the Wind - A Strategy for Quebec, will allow Quebec and its regions to realize the full economic potential of its wind energy resource, ensuring a diversified energy portfolio without compromising the security of supply.
For more than a decade, Quebec has been on a path to develop its infinite wind energy potential. By 2015, the province will have achieved its target of 4000 MW of installed energy capacity produced by wind - a target that has allowed the emergence of a viable manufacturing industry in the regions of Matane and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, significantly contributing to economic revitalization of a region hit hard by other resource declines.
CanWEA believes that in order for Quebec and its regions to continue to fully realize these economic benefits, the province can and must continue to significantly increase the wind energy portion in its overall energy portfolio. The continued development of this infinite resource will insure diversification of renewable energies in Quebec's portfolio create significant economic benefits for the regions, and support the sustainability of a growing and vibrant industry.
