OTTAWA, June 15, 2015 /CNW/ - Activists from the Canadian Association of Professional Employees are staging another protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, at the corner of Wellington and Elgin, on Monday, June 15, at noon.
This demonstration is part of a mobilization effort, led by CAPE members, to increase awareness of the budget implementation bill, C-59. Bill C-59 violates international labour agreements signed by Canada.
Attending the demonstration:
Rosa Pavanelli, General Secretary of Public Services International. PSI represents 20 million public service employees around the world. Rosa Pavanelli is in Ottawa to put the spotlight on Canada's flagrant disregard for international labour conventions, which is clearly evident in Bill C-4 and Bill C-59.
Tim Hodge, President of the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers. PAFSO represents the Canadian foreign service officers who organized, in 2013, the longest strike of federal public service employees.
Bargaining team members from the Canadian Association of Professional Employees, the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada and the Public Service Alliance of Canada will also be in attendance. They are currently negotiating the renewal of collective agreements that cover more than 140,000 public service employees.
Date: Monday June 15
Time: noon to 1 p.m.
Place: Prime Minister's Office, corner of Wellington and Elgin.
