OTTAWA, Jan. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA), alongside individuals and organizations from across Canada, will be holding a first-ever National Summit on Addiction Recovery in Ottawa on January 27–28, 2015.
The Summit is designed to shine light on the very important issue of addiction recovery, and to develop a collective commitment towards a made-in-Canada approach that will bring a recovery focus to policies, programs and practices for the millions of Canadians who suffer from substance use disorders.
Perhaps most importantly, the Summit aims to change the conversation about addiction, from focusing on the problem to celebrating the solution. A greater pan-Canadian focus on recovery will help to build awareness, challenge societal stigma, and celebrate the role that recovery plays in improving the lives of individuals, families and communities.
Media are invited to attend a press conference at the conclusion of the Summit to learn more about its purpose and activities moving forward. Participants will also undertake a ceremonial signing of a National Commitment to Addiction Recovery.
