Media Advisory - Celebrate a City of Sustainable Fashion and Culture at the 20th Anniversary of The Living City Environmental Dinner
- Fashion Takes Action Fashion Show highlight of fundraising dinner that protects greenspace in the GTA -
TORONTO, Oct. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Join us for the 20th Living City© Environmental Dinner! The Living City Dinner, celebrates the great conservationist and visionary Charles Sauriol, has become one of the largest environmental dinners in Canada attracting hundreds of supporters each year. The Dinner helps to highlight our vision for The Living City®, where human settlement can flourish forever as part of nature's beauty and diversity, to life. This dinner plays a significant role in bringing our vision to life and we are pleased to introduce its new name; The Living City® Environmental Dinner. This year's theme is City of Sustainable Fashion and Culture and includes silent and live auctions, performances and much more! The Dinner will be hosted by guest emcee Ashley Rowe, with CTV News. Funds raised from this event support The Living City Foundation and TRCA programs.
The highlight of the evening is an exciting sustainable fashion show by Fashion Takes Action, Canada's only non-profit organization devoted to sustainability in the fashion industry. Twelve of their members from across Canada will be featured in an exclusive fashion show for The Living City Dinner that will help to increase awareness for the negative social and environmental impacts of our clothing, create a deeper understanding of what sustainable fashion is and debunk the myth that sustainable fashion is not on trend or stylish, when in fact it graces international runways in NY, London and Paris. The clothing showcased is all eco-friendly designs and the accessories and bags will also be sustainable. In an effort to keep the fashion show's footprint low, all hair and makeup products used on the models will be organic and toxin free, and there is a zero electricity policy on the hair.
At the Dinner the 2013 Living City Awards will be presented to organizations who exemplify Toronto and Region Conservation's vision for The Living City. There are three awards that exemplify The Living City objectives for healthy rivers and shorelines, regional biodiversity and sustainable communities. A new award, the Charles Sauriol Environmental Leadership Award, will be presented this year.
