VANCOUVER, May 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Reminder - Call for Submissions for the 8th annual Carter Wosk BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design.
"This award celebrate BC's rich creative industry," said Keith Mitchell, chair of the BC Achievement Foundation. "Our goal is to showcase and celebrate the achievements of BC artists and designers who create art with a practical function."
Jewellers, industrial and fashion designers, glassmakers, furniture designers, potters, weavers are examples of some of the fields honoured by this award. Recipients are selected by a panel of experts who consider creativity, originality, innovation and aesthetics when making decisions.
Said 2011 recipient Dina Mascaro Gonzalez, "this award is a milestone in my career. I encourage all BC's applied artists and designers, known and unknown, to share their vision by applying for a 2012 BC Creative Achievement Award for Applied Art and Design."
An artist may be nominated or self-submit to these juried awards. The deadline for submissions is June 13, 2012. Up to three awards of $5,000 each will be presented at a ceremony in the Fall.
The British Columbia Achievement Foundation is an independent foundation established and endowed by the Province in 2003 to celebrate excellence in the arts, humanities, enterprise and community service.
