THUNDER BAY, April 17, 2014 /CNW/ - The Attorney General of Ontario, Madeleine Meilleur, will participate in a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of the Thunder Bay Courthouse. She will be joined by:
- Cathy Rodger, Councillor, Fort William First Nation on behalf of Georjann Morriseau, Chief, Fort William First Nation
- Stan Beardy, Ontario Regional Chief
- Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines, and MPP for Thunder Bay – Superior North
- Bill Mauro, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and MPP for Thunder Bay – Atikokan
- Keith Hobbs, Mayor of Thunder Bay, and
- other local dignitaries.
Prior to the ribbon-cutting celebration, there will be a series of First Nations ceremonies at the front of the courthouse.
Members of the media are invited to tour the courthouse after the celebration.
The new facility will improve justice services by consolidating the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice, previously operating in two separate locations in Thunder Bay.
