Media Advisory - CFS workers to stage info picket at Archdiocese office Oct. 15
TORONTO, Oct. 14, 2014 /CNW/ - Workers with Catholic Family Services Toronto will stage an information picket Oct. 15 outside the head office of the Archdiocese in their bid to gain a wage hike after going four years without any increase.
The employees, members of Local 594 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), say that while their incomes have been frozen since 2010 compensation levels for senior management have increased significantly.
"We expect more understanding from this employer," said Gary Marche, co-chair of the Local 594 bargaining team. "In our workplaces we are guided strongly by a sense of social justice and fairness, but that is not being reflected by management at the bargaining table."
The CFS Toronto social workers provide a variety of counselling services, including those for individuals, couples and families.
