Media Advisory - Chez Doris - From a $ 10,000 proposal to a major donation that will propel the organization

MONTREAL, April 29, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - On Sunday, May 6, 2018, Chez Doris will announce all the details of a major donation received from a generous Montrealer.  After having almost closed its doors in 2014, this exceptional and unexpected gift, made possible thanks to the advice and guidance of an accountant, will allow Chez Doris to realize its mission on a larger scale.

Chez Doris will honour the donor as part of its annual Tea Time fundraising event, which will bring together 200 guests at Concordia University's Grey Nuns' Pavilion. A testimonial video of three clients, from the Francophone, Allophone, and Aboriginal communities, will relate their experiences with Chez Doris, the only day shelter open to women 7 days a week in Greater Montreal.

About Chez Doris
Chez Doris offers services and programs to provide for women's most basic and immediate needs related to coping with homelessness, poverty, mental illness and/or addictions. It is the only women's day shelter in Montréal open 7 days a week, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Services include: breakfast and lunch; access to showers, hygienic products, and a clothing depot; emergency food bags; 6 respite beds; telephone information and referral assistance; custodial services and a financial management program; an Inuit assistance program; an Aboriginal housing program; health and mental health services; legal & tax filing services; as well as educational and socio-recreational integration programs.  Chez Doris receives up to 100 women per day, which represents approximately 26,000 visits per year, and provides more than 37,000 meals annually. www.chezdoris.org
