Media Advisory - Children's Wish, Blue Jays and celebrity designer to surprise boy with his wish room makeover reveal
AJAX, ON, Feb. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - 14-year-old Dawson Fascia will see the result his most heartfelt wish for the first time, when his sports-themed room makeover is revealed on Monday, February 20, which is also his birthday. The room makeover wish, granted by The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, was designed by celebrity designer Jackie Morra of Jackie Morra Interiors. Dawson, who is coping with leukemia, wished to have his empty basement converted into a Montreal Canadiens and Blue Jays-themed "man cave".
The room is a true homage to all things baseball and hockey related. Jackie Morra, volunteering her design skills for Children's Wish, worked with Dawson to create a living space that is authentic to each sport and unique to Dawson. One half of the room is decorated to resemble a realistic Blue Jays padded outfield wall. The other half resembles an arena with authentic rink boards, benches and a hockey net enclosed entertainment centre.
Children's Wish child Dawson is excited about the room reveal but is unaware of the extent of the transformation or the huge outpouring of kindness from a wide variety of companies and individuals. Players from the Blue Jays and NHL have been sending autographed memorabilia as a surprise for Dawson.
The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club is also attempting to Skype in one of Dawson's favourite players to wish him a happy birthday.
"We are overwhelmed by the kindness of Children's Wish and the outpouring of response from the community," explains Dawson's mom Allison, "and I am elated that we are seeing people paying it forward at a very difficult time in our life when we are coping with our son's illness."
"It is always a pleasure to be able to help grant a wish for a child like Dawson, who is living with a life threatening illness," states Sandra Harris, Children's Wish Director, Ontario Region. "I truly believe that a wish can make a difference in the life of a child, a difference that is made possible with the support from our communities."

Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of three and 17 are diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to 18,000 children and their families.
This year, the Foundation expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes and is proud to have never refused a wish to an eligible child, and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family. The Foundation is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory.
