Media Advisory - Children's Wish Month kicks off a 31-day celebration of the magic of a wish
BURNABY, BC, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - On Friday, March 1st, 2013, staff, volunteers, and supporters of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada will celebrate granting over 19,000 wishes of children diagnosed with a life threatening illness, as well as raise awareness and funds to grant future wishes by holding a Children's Wish Month kick-off celebration in the downtown core. The Children's Wish Month street team will be located in front of London Drugs at the corner of Granville and West Georgia asking people to share their own wishes on "I Wish…" cards. These cards will be displayed on the Wishing Wall, alongside cards of a different colour filled out by wish children to give passers-by the perspective of what a child with a life-threatening illness wishes for. "I Wish..." cards have already been filled out by Mason Raymond of the Vancouver Canucks, members of the Vancouver White Caps, and several Mayors from across the province.
Members of the media are invited to attend the kick-off celebration at 2:30 to capture the support of a community leader. Scotiabank, sponsor of Children's Wish Month, will be presenting a $10,000 cheque to Children's Wish. March was proclaimed Children's Wish Month in British Columbia by Shirley Bond; Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Judith Guichon; Lieutenant General and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.

The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada
Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of three and 17 are diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to over 19,000 children and their families.
This year, the Foundation expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes and is proud to have never refused a wish to an eligible child, and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family. The Foundation is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory.
