MEDIA ADVISORY - CITIZEN SAILOR BOOK LAUNCH - NAMING OF THE NAVAL MUSEUM'S
MAIN EXHIBITION ROOM
QUEBEC, Nov. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - In the framework of the Canadian Navy Centennial activities 2010, the Chief Maritime Staff, Vice- Admiral McFAdden, will launch the commemorative Citizen Sailor book, Chronicles of the Naval Reserve of Canada 1910-2010 during a ceremony which will take place at the Officers mess at Pointe à Carcy, 144 Dalhousie, 18 November at 1400 hrs
This lavishly illustrated commemorative volume, produced under the auspices of the Canadian Naval Centennial Project, chronicles the full century of the Naval Reserve as a proud national institution. It covers the origins of the Naval Reserve, the foundation of the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteers Reserve and how they saved the Navy until today with his missions, ships (12) and units (24).
After the book launch, the Naval Museum of Québec will unveil a commemorative plaque on the occasion of the naming of the Museum's main exhibition room the Paul-Henri Bouchard Room. Mr. Paul-Henri Bouchard himself will be present, along with his family. Mr. Bouchard, the most decorated sailor still living, is so honoured for his hard work on the founding and development of the Naval Museum of Québec, as well as for his continuing and selfless dedication over the past 40 years to the preservation of Quebec's and Canada's naval heritage.
