Media Advisory - City Councillors to join Hydro Ottawa, United Way Ottawa to announce $140,000 in energy saving grants for local charities Français
OTTAWA, Oct. 18, 2013 /CNW/ — Media are invited to join Hydro Ottawa and United Way Ottawa, as well as Ottawa City Councillors and local community leaders, as we announce this year's recipients of the Brighter Tomorrows Fund. Nearly $140,000, including $33,000 from the provincial saveONenergy incentive, is being awarded to ten local agencies for energy conservation projects.
The Brighter Tomorrows Fund is a community investment program created by Hydro Ottawa and administered in partnership with United Way Ottawa to support frontline agencies that serve people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.

With support from the Brighter Tomorrows Fund, Ottawa Salus was able to install energy-efficient, fire-safe stoves in their residences. The Ottawa Fire Department and representatives from Safe-T Element will be on-hand to demonstrate how these new appliances will help prevent cooking fires and save energy. Hydro Ottawa President and CEO Bryce Conrad, along with United Way Ottawa Campaign Co-Chair Goldy Hyder will address funding recipients. Refreshments will be served.
