Media advisory - CivicAction campaign mobilizes residents to fix transportation

TORONTO, Oct. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - It's time to take bold action to accelerate investment in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) region's transportation network.

The Greater Toronto CivicAction Alliance and a coalition of 40 business, labour, non-profit, academic and community leaders will launch a provocative campaign to involve residents across the GTHA in a movement to invest in our transportation system.

What: Launch of the 'What would you do with 32?' campaign

When: Wednesday, October 10^th at 10 a.m.

Where: One University Ave, 16th Floor (north of Front Street at intersection of York Street and University Avenue), Toronto

• CivicAction's multi-sector, region-wide Champions Council of rising and established leaders
• GTHA residents sharing how they'll benefit from a better, integrated regional transportation system

Why: The GTHA has a commute time amongst the worst in North America. It doesn't have to be this way. Whether it's time saved, better health and air quality, a boost to productivity, or easier access to jobs, schools, and other opportunities, the benefits of a regional transportation system that is efficient, accessible, affordable, and fully connected are indisputable. Every resident has a stake in fixing transportation in our area. It's time to involve them - directly - in making investment in our region a reality.
