TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2017 /CNW/ - For its inaugural Montreal J-Talk, The Canadian Journalism Foundation(CJF) is proud to bring together leaders of Quebec's top news outlets to discuss the future of journalism.
State of Flux: Media's Next Moves takes place on September 27 at Concordia University. The panel discussion will feature Michel Bissonnette, executive vice-president for Radio-Canada; Guy Crevier, publisher of La Presse; Alexandre Taillefer, managing partner of the investment fund that owns L'actualité; and Brian Myles, publisher of Le Devoir. They will be joined by Colette Brin, director of Université Laval's Centre d'études sur les médias. Gerald Fillion, host of RDI Économie, moderates.
The conversation will explore the rapidly shifting media landscape and how news organizations are seeking stable footing. What bodes best for a sustainable future for journalism: government support, tax breaks or new business models?
"These speakers have the tough job of creating successful business models to ensure journalists have no excuses but to do the most exciting and brave work imaginable," says David Walmsley, chair of the CJF and editor of The Globe and Mail.
This event is part of CJF's J-Talks series, which explores pressing media issues.
The CJF thanks sponsors La Presse, Radio-Canada, NATIONAL Public Relations, The Luc Beauregard Centre of Excellence in Communications Research at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business, and Université Laval's Centre d'études sur les medias. The CJF also thanks the generosity of J-Talks series sponsor BMO Financial Group and in-kind supporters Cision and CPAC.
This discussion will be conducted in French.
